TRADE RUMORS [VERIFIED]

  • Hollywood Herald | Trade Rumors [Verified]

Right before the Preseason starts, the LA Rams are on the search for another LB.

According to our sources, the Rams have narrowed down their search to 7 names, they would consider trading for once the trade window opens.

We managed to get a sneak-peak on the top 3 of that list:

    1) Germaine Pratt (Bengals)

Pratt is the 2nd string MLB of the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24 years old linebacker weighs in at 240 lb with a height of 6'2". Despite his measurables, he's very fast and posesses sideline-to-sideline speed. His speed paired with his good tackling skills allow him to defend outside runs with ease. He's still on his rookie deal so he wouldn't hurt the Rams' capspace. While covering the zone isn't his best ability, he can be serviceable there against non-elite TEs and slot WRs.

    2) Kevin Pierre-Louis (Football Team)

Kevin Pierre-Louis is with 28 years the oldest of the 3 LBs. He's 6'0" and weighs in at 231 lb, so he's a smaller backer than Pratt. While athletically and technique-wise he's inferor to Pratt in all aspects, he showed good instincts on tape and would be the plan B if the Bengals aren't interested in parting ways with Pratt. According to our sources, Pierre-Louis has been on coach Pulse's radar for a few years already so it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see the Rams make a move for him. He's not on his rookie deal anymore but his cap hit would still be manageable for the Rams.

    3) Jerome Baker (Dolphins)

Jerome Baker is the last of the 3 names we were able to get a look at. And it makes sense: We know that HC Pulse made a very strong push to aquire Baker from the Dolphins when he was the coach of the Denver Broncos. In the end negotiations failed, but this indicates Pulse had a strong interest in him and considers him a scheme-fit. At 6'2", 225 lb, the 23 years old linebacker is still on his rookie deal and very athletic too - we sense a pattern here - and he would be a middling-ground between Pratt and Pierre-Louis in terms of his measurables. He's incredibly fast for a linebacker and should be able to hang with any TE in the league speed-wise.

    Conclusion:

The Rams seem to be interested in a cheap linebacker with sideline-to-sideline speed and serviceable coverage ability. They are not hunting the big-name LBs that also come with a hefty pricetag. The favorite seems to be Germaine Pratt and we expect the Rams to make an offer for him once the trade-window opens. Lineacker seems to be a position the Rams will try to fill via trade, while they are trying to fix the RB position through Free Agency if possible. We assume the remaining 4 names on the list will have a similar profile to Pratt, Pierre-Louis and Baker. The market for those players will be interesting to watch as linebacker remains a weak link for many teams. The Rams reportedly didn't begin talks about any of those players with their respective teams yet so it remains to be seen if those teams would even consider trading them.

    Stay tuned!

  • Ob ich das hier bekanntgebe, oder dann in ein paar Tagen im Tradebereich "Rams haben ein Angebot für Spieler X abgegeben" steht, macht nicht wirklich einen Unterschied ^^
